Internet pilot supply retailer PilotMall.com is extending its 10% military and veteran discount to active members of the Civil Air Patrol and volunteer public service flying organizations like those of the Air Care Alliance.
The discount is available on nearly all Pilot Mall merchandise with few exclusions, company officials note. Online customers can qualify by filling out a verification form at PilotMall.com for approval. Shoppers at Pilot Mall’s two Florida store locations (Al Whitted Airport, St. Petersburg, and the SUN ‘n FUN grounds in Lakeland) need only present qualifying current ID or other proof of membership at check-out.
“As Hurricane Sandy has again proven, the emergency services operations of the Civil Air Patrol and public benefit flying of Air Care Alliance-type organizations bring recognition and goodwill to us in general aviation,” said Neil Glazer, PilotMall.com president, “just as their work brings air search and rescue, civil defense assets, free medical air transportation and relief supplies to those in need.”
Using new digital imaging equipment, CAP has made news with its photo recon flights for emergency agencies over damaged coastline and infrastructure. Coordinated by AERObridge and others, volunteer pilot organizations have flown tons of emergency supplies into GA airports near affected communities.
he discount is open to all current members of the Civil Air Patrol, including cadets, and any member of a recognized volunteer public service flying organization such as those participating in the Air Care Alliance. Previously eligible are active duty and retired members of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, National Guard and Reserve, and civilian employees of the Department of Defense. Determination of eligibility is solely at the discretion of Pilot Mall.
Since 1999, Pilot Mall and PilotMall.com have offered 5,000 items “from the traditional to the innovative” for pilots, student pilots and aircraft owners plus gifts, apparel and artwork for any aviation fan, according to Glazer, who is an instrument-/multi-engine pilot and Mooney owner.
