Museum slates Open Cockpit Day, fundraising sale for Father’s Day

Oakland Aviation Museum in California will hold an Open Cockpit Day and aviation paraphernalia fundraising sale Sunday, June 16, to support its A-3 Skywarrior restoration project.

The planes will be open for inspection from 12 noon to 4 p.m.

“Imagine sitting in a Korean or Vietnam era jet airplane and feeling what it would have been like to fly,” museum officials said. “Take home a memento of that experience by buying any of the aviation items that will be for sale to raise funds for our Douglas A-3 Skywarrior restoration project. The largest and heaviest carrier-based operational aircraft ever built, the Skywarrior was the Navy’s first strategic all-jet nuclear bomber and was in service for over 35 years.”

Oakland Aviation Museum, located at old North Field at Oakland Airport, is housed in the 1939 Boeing School of Aeronautics building at 8252 Earhart Road. For more information: OaklandAviationMuseum.org or call 510-638-7100.
