SocialFlight, a leading source for general aviation events which now fuels the General Aviation News calendar, has launched support for online events such as live seminars, classes and simulcasted events, enabling pilots and aviation enthusiasts from around the world to participate in general aviation through events they can attend from anywhere in the world.
The addition of online events to the traditional events catalogued in SocialFlight now provides a single source for everything happening in aviation, regardless of geography, according to SocialFlight officials.
SocialFlight is a free mobile app and web site which maps general aviation events important to pilots such as fly-ins, airshows, pancake breakfasts, conventions, FAA safety seminars and much more. More than 5,000 events were listed in 2013 alone.
SocialFlight users can search for events, add events, chat, upload photos, get email notifications, send event notices to their friends and even add events automatically to their Google or Outlook calendar. In addition, SocialFlight provides users with a personalized Weekly Event Planner, reaching out to them each week via email, informing them about the upcoming events in their local area and motivating them to get out and fly.
“The SocialFlight community has grown to the point where it is no longer simply listing aviation events; it is actually creating more of them. This is solely due to the fact that SocialFlight makes it so easy to host a new event and communicate it to the aviation world.” said Jeff Simon, president of SocialFlight. “With the addition of online-events, we can now offer our users the ability to take part in aviation events that transcend geography. Our hope is that SocialFlight will promote the creation of more live, online opportunities to learn and grow as pilots and aviation enthusiasts; just as it has done for traditional events.”
SocialFlight has grown rapidly since its launch just over a year ago, reaching over 20,000 users and 5,000 aviation events in 2013 alone. It is been supported by a number of aviation companies, including Cessna, Lightspeed Aviation, Spencer Aircraft, ASL CamGuard and Sennheiser. Each of these companies has teamed up with SocialFlight to help support the growth of SocialFlight and promote the aviation industry.
