National Air and Space Museum marks anniversary of first flight

On Dec. 17, 2003, America looked back a century to celebrate the first successful flight of a powered airplane. Ten years after the Centennial of Flight, Orville and Wilbur Wright’s achievement at Kitty Hawk is still inspiring creativity and provoking discussion. In time for this year’s anniversary, the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum is focusing a spotlight on its updated exhibition, “The Wright Brothers & The Invention of the Aerial Age.”

New England museum slates holiday fun

WINDSOR LOCKS, CONN. – The New England Air Museum will hold family fun activities Dec. 26-31. Daily activities include demonstrations about the science of flight, and the museum’s Flight Sim Spot will be open between 12 pm and 4 pm. Flight Sim Spot allows visitors to use state-of-the-art simulators to virtually fly any aircraft using real cockpit controls.

Receive $5 off with a toy donation at Fantasy of Flight

POLK CITY, Florida  — Fantasy of Flight is offering visitors who donate an unwrapped toy $5 off of full-priced admission for each donation through Dec. 15.

The toy drive will benefit Toys for Tots of Polk County. Every person in a group must bring a donated unwrapped toy to qualify for the discount. The donated toys must be presented at the attraction’s admissions counter to qualify for the discount.
