GLENDALE, Ariz. – The Glendale Municipal Airport is seeing renewed interest and growth, drawing new activity and development.
In recent months, many factors are coming together to strengthen airport operations and partnerships, according to airport officials. A new restaurant opened last November, called Something Special Aviation Café, which not only operates a café for airport tenants and visitors, but also runs an established catering business that has been in the Valley for several years. After a very hot, dry summer, officials with the Recreational Aviation Foundation report they have reopened Ryan Field (2MT1) at West Glacier, Montana. “Even though we have had rain and cooler temperatures, please use extreme caution in the area, and still no campfires,” they warn.
If you are planning to visit Ryan Field, RAF officials ask that you request a 2015 safety briefing.

The Central County Flyers Association, which operates the privately owned, public access Central County Airport (68C) in Iola, Wis., northwest of Oshkosh, surprised one of their own local aviation icons during their infamous Friday fly-in lunch on Aug 14.
Paul Johns thought that the group was just holding an “Appreciation Day” in his honor but, instead, got a very big surprise. Former Association President Bill Kinsman called the attendees together to retell Paul’s aviation history and then made the surprise announcement that the airport would be renamed Paul Johns Field. PULLMAN, Wash. — Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories is donating $1 million to help fund the Pullman-Moscow Regional Airport (KPUW) runway realignment expansion. SEL Founder Ed Schweitzer and his wife Beatriz will also donate $1 million to the project.
The two contributions provide approximately one quarter of the local matching funds required by the FAA for the project. [Read more…]
