The National Association of State Aviation Officials (NASAO) has launched a new website, just ahead of the association’s 84th annual convention and tradeshow, which begins Saturday in Boise, Idaho.
Two pilots who live in Greenville, S.C., Theron Burton and Clint Thompson, have launched an effort to create a network group of other minority pilots throughout the Southeast. “The main reason that I wanted to create this group was get minority pilots together where we would get to know each other and, together, get more involved in what’s going on with the aviation community,” said Burton in a story posted at GreenvilleOnline.com
The intent of the group is not to exclude anyone, Burton said, adding the group doesn’t have a name yet, but held its first meeting at the Greenville Downtown Airport (KGMU).

Aviation supporters in Ohio, the “birthplace of aviation,” have a new committee, created to ensure a statewide focus on growing the aviation and aerospace industries.
Legislation to create the Ohio Aerospace and Aviation Technology Committee (OAATC) was passed last year, and committee members — led by state Rep. Rick Perales — have begun developing strategies to promote Ohio’s aviation, aerospace and technology industries, according to a report at NBAA.org. [Read more…]
Now in its eighth year, WomenVenture has provided a venue for women attending EAA AirVenture Oshkosh to bond and have fun. WomenVenture Wednesday began at the EAA Nature Center July 22 with a sold-out Women in Aviation International Connect breakfast, attended by more than 360 people.
The group then reformed in Boeing Plaza, joining hundreds more women, for the largest ever WomenVenture annual group photo. The women, most wearing their WomenVenture T-shirts, filled Boeing Plaza. The WASP had their usual place of honor in the front row. [Read more…]
