The Helicopter Association International (HAI) is accepting nominations for its 2015 Salute to Excellence Awards, effective immediately. The awards will be presented during HAI HELI-EXPO 2015 on Wednesday, March 4, 2015, in Orlando, Florida.
The Aircraft Kit Industry Association has elected new officers for the coming year. Sonex Aircraft’s Jeremy Monnett (pictured) will serve as president, Van’s Aircraft’s Dick Van Grunsven has become vice president, and Kitfox’s John McBean is the new secretary/treasurer.
Women in Aviation, International reports that scholarships for 2015 now number 91 with a combined value of $510,150.
The scholarships will be awarded during WAI’s 26th Annual International Conference in Dallas, Texas, held March 5-7 at the Hilton Anatole.
The General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA) will hold the third Aviation Design Challenge in 2015.
Over the past several years, the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) developed its digital flight planning tools into a suite of products that put flight planning capability, airport directory information and aviation weather in pilots’ hands. AOPA partnered with Seattle Avionics to create FlyQ EFB, an electronic flight bag (EFB) iPad application, and FlyQ Pocket, a smartphone application.
Shortly after joining AOPA last fall, President Mark Baker began a review of AOPA’s member benefits and products, which included an assessment of where members believe AOPA should spend resources in regards to flight planning benefits.
As a result, AOPA has decided to exit the EFB market, and will develop a distinct smartphone application focusing on content and functions driven by member needs. The new smartphone application will remain a free member benefit, AOPA officials said.
OSHKOSH — The Experimental Aircraft Association has finalized an agreement with National Aircraft Finance Company (NAFCO), a wholly owned subsidiary of Pilot Bancshares, to provide exclusive benefits to EAA members in the market to finance an aircraft, kit, plan-based aircraft materials, engines, engine overhauls and avionics upgrades.
The International Aviation Womens Association (IAWA), a worldwide organization for women who hold leadership positions across the entire spectrum of the aviation and aerospace industry, will hold its 26th Annual Conference Oct. 15-17, 2014 in Seattle at the Fairmont Olympic Hotel.
