The Flying Musicians Association is gearing up for the first aviation event of 2012, the Sebring U.S. Sport Aviation Expo, held in Sebring, Fla., Jan. 17-20.
The Collings Foundation Wings of Freedom Tour will stop at the Sport Aviation Expo in Sebring, Florida, this January.
Expected to attend the show, known by most as the Sebring LSA Expo, is the Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress “Nine O Nine,” Consolidated B-24 Liberator “Witchcraft,” and P-51 Mustang (pictured). All are slated to fly into Sebring Regional Airport at 1:30 p.m. Jan. 18.
POWAY, Calif. — Airport tenants, local families, San Diego County Airports and Delkin Devices, a local manufacturer in Poway, are once again partnering with the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation to bring the event back to Ramona Airport for the sixth time this Saturday, Dec. 8.
On the morning of Sunday, Dec. 9, The South Carolina Breakfast Club will be landing at the Greenville Downtown Airport (GMU). They have been traveling to airports, in and right around South Carolina, since 1938, ceasing meetings only during World War II when there were restrictions on aviation fuel.
The club has no dues, no attendance requirements and no bylaws; they have just one rule “Safety First.” Breakfast is about $6 a plate and is ready at about 9 am. It’s that simple.
The ninth convention of the the TBM Owners and Pilots Association (TBMOPA) surpassed all previous records with the presence of 95 TBM 700s and TBM 850s for its annual gathering, which was held this year at Amelia Island, Florida.

Low ceilings, wet-gusty weather and cool temps did not keep dozens of beautiful Cessna 195s and their owners from flying to Frankfort, Kentucky, for their 42nd yearly gathering on the last weekend of September.
Nothing sounds quite like a round engine. Capital City Airport (FFT) was bathed in the deep rumbling sounds of the radials powering the 195s as the swarmed the skies over Frankfort.
Stripes and spiders — not a combination most people would think of when designing a paint scheme for a vintage airplane, but that’s exactly what Merrill and MaDonna McMahan of Wausau, Wis., decided to do when they painted their 1941 Stearman.
The red, white and blue airplane sports small black spiders and the name “Miss Muffet” emblazoned on the side.
