Youngest-ever female member of U.S. Aerobatic Team to make her Reno debut


RENO, Nev. – One of the world’s top female pilots will be gracing the northern Nevada skies for the first time at this year’s National Championship Air Races Sept. 10-14.

Melissa Pemberton, a world-renowned aerobat and the youngest-ever female member of the United States Unlimited Aerobatic Team, will bring her Edge540 aircraft  to the Reno-Stead Airfield this September. Pemberton joins the F-22 Raptor Demonstration team as performers that have been announced so far for the event’s 51st year.

An insider’s look at the Reno Air Races



The annual Reno Air Races, held every September since 1964, attract some 200,000 spectators over the seven-day event. What better way to get the inside straight skinny than from an actual participant?

Thom Richard, president and CEO of Kissimmee, Florida-based Warbird Adventures, has been racing at Reno since 2008, winning several awards among the six categories (Sport, Formula One, Biplane, T-6, Unlimited and Jet). Reno wraps up historic week


RENO — The National Championship Air Races wrapped up its historic 50th event on Sunday afternoon with a Breitling Unlimited Gold Championship race that ended with four-time defending champion Steve Hinton edging out one of the best racing fields in the event’s history for his fifth straight victory.

Legendary ‘Strega’ to compete at Reno with new pilot


The Reno Air Racing Association (RARA) announced this week that legendary Unlimited & Warbird Class (UWRC) racers “Strega,” “Precious Metal,” “Argonaut,” and “Dreadnought,” are the latest entrants into the  most recognizable racing class.

In a surprising twist, “Strega,” (pictured) which has been flown to victory the past four years by defending champion Steve Hinton, will be flown by Air Race veteran Matt Jackson.
