Aviation artist Sam Lyons’ work now at Banyan Pilot Shop


LAKELAND, Fla. – You never know how a relationship can start. That holds true for matters of the heart as well as for art. The president of Banyan Air Services, Don Campion, was attending the Sebring U.S. Sport Aviation Expo in January when he spotted the Lyons Studio display. A dramatic print on canvas called “Tuskegee Ace” caught his eye and drew him into the booth.

Campion was interested in selling Sam’s work in the Banyan Air Pilot Shop that’s at the Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport. Business cards were exchanged, a visit was arranged, and now Lyons’ art is prominently displayed in the Pilot Shop.

SUN ’n FUN to raffle off Sam Lyons artwork


SUN ’n FUN is raffling off a Sam Lyons original and a signed and numbered print as part of its Hangar Door Canteen event this Friday. The proceeds will help fund SUN n FUN’s year-round education programs. There will only be 250 tickets sold for the raffle, with winners chosen this Friday. Find out more here


Aviation artist Sam Lyons hospitalized

Facebook was the first indication something was amiss, then a call from Mindy Lyons, wife of famed aviation artist Sam Lyons, confirmed the news.

Sam is at the Lakeland Regional Medical Center with what doctors think is an allergic reaction to blood pressure medication. As a result of the reaction, Sam’s throat and tongue are badly swollen, so much so that Sam is now (as of July 10) on a respirator in the ICU.
