Jeff Praskac and Kim Geczi will be married at Solberg Airport (KN51) on Friday, July 17, at 5 pm. The couple is using SocialFlight to organize as many pilots as possible to bring aircraft to the airport as a wonderful “aviation backdrop” for the wedding.
When Jeff and Kim decided to get married, the couple knew that aviation would have to be a part of their celebration. They decided that the perfect location was where Jeff has been a flight instructor for the past two years.
Jeff quickly added the couple’s wedding as an event in SocialFlight, just like thousands of other pilots and aviation groups who list their pancake breakfasts, fly-ins, training seminars and club events.
The SocialFlight staff immediately noted the uniqueness of this event and has committed themselves to helping Jeff and Kim make their day an even more special occasion.
In addition to listing the event on the SocialFlight map for web and mobile users, the team has featured the wedding in the SocialFlight Weekly Event Planner, publicizing it to tens of thousands of SocialFlight users and inviting pilots to fill the ramp with planes for Jeff and Kim’s special day.
Sennheiser Aviation, one of SocialFlight’s principal sponsors, joined the effort by donating a Sennheiser S1 Digital ANR headset as a wedding gift for the couple.
“We are thrilled that the SocialFlight community has grown to the point where it is benefitting General Aviation and helping keep pilots in the air,” said Jeff Simon, president of SocialFlight. “We receive positive feedback from our users every day, including a retired airline pilot from Oregon who decided not to sell his plane after going on SocialFlight.com and seeing all the places he could have been flying all along. Helping bring pilots together for Jeff and Kim’s wedding gives us all a wonderful feeling of community within General Aviation.”
Solberg-Hunterdon Airport (KN51), founded by Norwegian aviation pioneer Thor Solberg, has been serving the Northern New Jersey Aviation community since 1939. The embattled, privately owned, public use airport in Readington Township, New Jersey, recently won a court battle to protect the airport from a township plan to shut it under the pretense of eminent domain. The Praskac-Geczi wedding celebration makes the victory for General Aviation even sweeter.
SocialFlight is the free mobile app and website used by tens of thousands of pilots to find aviation events. More than 20,000 events have been catalogued to date.
SocialFlight also includes more than 300,000 Points of Interest (POIs), such as restaurants, attractions, lodging and more, all within walking distance of airports. In addition, SocialFlight University, accessible through the SocialFlight app and website, catalogs more than 100 educational videos and webinar recordings.
