ARLINGTON, Wash. – What started as a spaghetti feed in 1969 grew to a five-day, full featured fly-in and airshow in the 2000s. Today, the Arlington Fly-In is a three-day (Thursday-Saturday) old school fly-in and airshow for those who love looking at, talking about, and dreaming of airplanes.
“I’ve never seen one that color before!” That’s what people usually say when they first set eyes on the Cessna 152 owned by Mary Rosenblum of Troutdale, Ore.
Unlike so many airplanes that are predominantly white with an accent color, in the sunlight Rosenblum’s aircraft appears purple, as in Barney the Dinosaur was the painter. The airplane attracted a lot of attention during the Arlington Fly-in and Sport Convention held at Arlington Municipal Airport (AWO) north of Seattle in July.
Earlier this year, Rotax Aircraft Engines, which commands a 75% share among LSA and light kit-built aircraft, introduced its new fuel-injected 912 iS powerplant. Rotax expert Phil Lockwood, who has first-hand experience working with the new engine, will present forums at Arlington 2012 in Washington State and at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2012.
