New York’s first municipal airport

The New York Times spotlights Floyd Bennett Field, located “at the end of Flatbush Avenue where the eastern fringe of Brooklyn meets Jamaica Bay”. Included in the feature posted July 9 is a five-plus minute video showcasing all the park (“Decommissioned in the early 1970s, the airfield became part of the Jamaica Bay Unit of the National Park Service’s Gateway National Recreation Area.”).

There is a great deal of history in this story, not to mention a tremendous amount of activity. Enjoy.
