ASA debuts new composites textbook

By Janice Wood · January 10, 2010 ·

asaASA’s new textbook on composite materials, “Essentials of Advanced Composite Fabrication and Repair,” runs the gamut, serving as a comprehensive primer on composites, yet also working as a resource for long-time composites professionals, according to company officials.

Advanced composite technology is constantly changing and embracing new developments daily, yet the basics needed to successfully design, fabricate and repair composite structures remain the same.  The textbook teaches these concepts and methods in a simple, straightforward manner for a wide array of composites fundamentals, including fiber and matrix selection, molding methods, curing and achieving desired properties, tooling, testing and non-destructive inspection, step-by-step repair and troubleshooting, key environmental, health and safety issues, and much more.

Authors Louis Dorworth, GingerGardiner, and Greg  Mellema have more than 80 combined years in the industry. Along with their numerous everyday practical lessons garnered from their combined lifetime of experience, the authors have also created in this textbook a compendium of industry information listings no longer in print.

Price: $79.95.
