Pentastar Aviation approved for access to DCA

By Janice Wood · May 14, 2012 ·

Pentastar Aviation’s executive terminal operation at Oakland County International Airport (PTK) in Waterford, Mich., has been granted approval as a Gateway FBO to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) through the DCA Access Standard Security Program (DASSP). Pentastar is currently the only executive terminal facility in the Metro Detroit area approved for departures flying directly to DCA.

In addition, Pentastar Aviation Charter, Inc. is now a TSA approved operator for on-demand charter flights into DCA, departing from any DCA Access facility, company officials said.

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has restricted aircraft arrivals into DCA since Sept. 11, 2001. To become a Gateway, an FBO must meet the strict security requirements outlined by the TSA. As of March 9, 2012, only 102 general aviation entities nationwide have been approved as DCA Gateway locations.

For nearly 50 years, Pentastar Aviation has provided aircraft maintenance, aircraft management services, aviation advisors, avionics design/installation/repair and aircraft charter through Pentastar Aviation Charter, Inc. Pentastar’s repair station received Airframe Class 3 and 4 Ratings from the FAA in January 2009.
