Rocky Mountain Airshow adds to performer line-up

By Janice Wood · May 21, 2012 ·

The Rocky Mountain Airshow, slated for Aug. 24-26 at The Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport in Broomfield, Colo., has added Kirby Chambliss and Patty Wagstaff to its 2012 lineup of performers.

“We are thrilled to bring two of the most sought after aerobatic performers to Denver this year,” stated Jim Cimiluca, Event Chairman. “Kirby is a five-time U.S. National Aerobatic Champion and two time Red Bull Air Race World Champion while Patty remains one of the most iconic performers in the industry.”

In addition, a joint collaboration between United Launch Alliance (ULA) and Ball Aerospace will make air how history by launching the 17 foot Stars and Stripes Rocket at the show, he said. The Intern Rocket Program provides hands-on learning experience for college interns and high school students to gain experience with new design concepts, manufacturing techniques and launch procedures.

Performers scheduled to appear are: USAFA Wings of Blue – Parachute Demo, Rocky Mountain Renegades, Don Nelson, Matt Tanner, Dan Buchanan, USAFA Glider Demo, Gary Rower/Mark Holliday–WWI Dogfight, Melissa and Rex Pemberton, Red Stars, Stars & Stripes Rocket Launch, Mark Johnson/Roy Halladay, Rocket Billy Racing, Kent Pietch, Trojan Phlyers, Patty Wagstaff, Kirby Chambliss, and a F-22 Raptor/Heritage Flight.

The 10th annual airshow will begin with fireworks presented by Webroot Security following a Hot Air Balloon Glow and the twilight airshow on Friday night to kick off the weekend. The AdventureZone kid’s area will showcase numerous activities and hands on projects to engage and excite kids of all ages while emphasizing the importance of STEM curricula. Hundreds of aircraft from across the country will also be on site for the 32nd annual Rocky Mountain Regional Fly-in held in conjunction with the airshow. Come early Saturday and Sunday mornings to enjoy the Rocky Mountain Balloonfest launches.

Early bird ticket pricing ends May 31 when Online Discount pricing begins.
