As part of the festivities at the Rocky Mountain Airshow, scheduled for Aug. 24-26 at Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport in Broomfield, Colo., the 17-foot Stars and Stripes Rocket will launch at the show, courtesy of the United Launch Alliance (ULA) Intern Rocket Program.
Interns with the program will be on hand during the show to discuss their design concepts, manufacturing techniques and launch procedures. The rocket will launch each day of the airshow at noon.
Performers scheduled to appear at the show include: USAFA Wings of Blue Parachute Demo, Rocky Mountain Renegades, Don Nelson, Matt Tanner, Dan Buchanan, USAFA Glider Demo, Gary Rower, Melissa & Rex Pemberton, Red Stars, Stars & Stripes Rocket Launch, Don Nelson/Matt Tanner, Mark Johnson/Roy Halladay, Pyro the Jet Truck, Kent Pietsch, Trojan Phlyers, Kirby Chambliss, F-22 Raptor/Heritage Flight.
The 10th annual airshow kicks off with the Friday night twilight air show followed by the Hot Air Balloon Glow and then fireworks presented by Webroot Security. The AdventureZone kid’s area will showcase numerous activities and hands on projects to engage and excite kids of all ages while emphasizing the importance of STEM curricula. Hundreds of aircraft from across the country will also be on site for the 33rd annual Rocky Mountain Regional Fly-in held in conjunction with the airshow.
