Sneak peek of Disney’s ‘Planes’ released

By General Aviation News Staff · April 2, 2013 ·

Disney has just released a sneak peek of its upcoming movie “Planes.”

The 3D animated comedy adventure features Dusty (voice of Dane Cook), a plane with dreams of competing as a high-flying air racer. But Dusty’s not exactly built for racing — and he happens to be afraid of heights. So he turns to a seasoned naval aviator who helps Dusty qualify to take on the defending champ of the race circuit.

“Disney’s Planes” takes off in theaters on Aug. 9.

The movie looks great. I just hope they have some positive role models for the young girls.
The comment “excuse me ladies” is not a great way to inspire young ladies to pursue a career in what has been a traditionally male industry. I get that it is funny but it would have been funnier if the fighters had had female voices.
Maybe a sequel where a young female triumphs would be a way to attract more young ladies into aviation. Time to stop ignoring half the potential market.

That’s a chronic problem with Pixar. Release one movie with a female lead and they think they’ve done what they need to.

Oh my, at 1:03 and 1:09 there is a huge granite outcropping just barely off the runway center line. You better fly a *mighty* precise approach in instrument conditions! Or, fly in a sentient crop-duster I suppose.
