Waco Classic Aircraft unveils new aircraft

WACO Classic Aircraft Corp. officially unveiled the first conforming new production Great Lakes 2T-1A-2.

The project to reintroduce the Great Lakes 2T-1A-2 started less than two years ago, according to company officials, who believe it to be the only new American manufactured piston aircraft to be brought to market in the last 15 years.

Production of aircraft for customers is well under way, with the first three currently on the production line, officials with the Battle Creek, Mich.based company said. Customer deliveries are expected to start in less then 90 days with an initial production rate of one per month after that.

1200-rearThe airplane features a Lycoming AEIO-360 180-hp fully aerobatic engine, fuel injection and a Hartzell aerobatic propeller. Avionics include a TRIG TY91 com radio, TRIG TT22 transponder, Garmin AERA-500 Touchscreen GPS with ADS-B Datalink (weather and ADS-B traffic) and a JPI-930 fully electronic engine analyzer and performance computer.
