Hammond Air Center doubles hangar capacity, upgrades FBO

By General Aviation News Staff · September 23, 2013 ·

Hammond Air Center, the newest FBO at the Northshore Regional Airport (HDC) in the Greater New Orleans Area, has completed construction on its new storage hangar, which will accommodate its growing community of based aircraft customers, as well as provide overnight storage options for transient customers.

Sized to fit up to medium-sized jets and all piston and turboprop aircraft, the new hangar is expected to fill up quickly, according to FBO officials.

“Hammond Air Center has been my passion for many years and, after joining up with other pilots in 2011 to make the dream a reality, has quickly grown beyond my expectations,” says Hammond Air Center president Erin Pierce. “I’ve been a professional pilot for over a decade and, through my aircraft management company Pierce Aviation, have had the opportunity to experience FBOs literally all over the world. Hammond Air Center is the product of what I call a true pilot’s home in that it features everything you can think of and expect as a professional or recreational pilot.”

Hammond Air Center also just completed a comprehensive FBO business and service upgrade called the “25-Point Plan for a Premium FBO” which is a consulting assessment and implementation program created by FBO Capital, a boutique aviation advisory service specializing in private aviation facility development, investment transactions and operational consulting. The business and service upgrade addressed every component of the facility, safety, service and hospitality of the FBO and the result is an operation that competes in terms of service, amenities and facilities with major market FBOs throughout the industry, according to officials.

“We have always prided ourselves on offering an FBO that welcomes its customers to a friendly, comfortable and professional facility, but now we have a private air operation, thanks to the efforts of FBO Capital, that hits the high points across the spectrum of what large-scale commercial air operators require in an FBO. In other words, we have taken a ‘true pilots home’ to a benchmark FBO that the industry has started to recognize as a national player regardless of market size,” says Pierce.
