By General Aviation News Staff · October 15, 2013 ·

EAA AVIATION CENTER, OSHKOSH, Wis. — Aviation fans may dream of flying the legendary B-17 “Flying Fortress” bomber from World War II, but even if that isn’t yet possible, you can give a piece of the legend this holiday season, as original jewelry made from the exterior skins of the a B-17 are featured in this year’s EAA merchandise catalog.

This jewelry, available only through EAA, is made by Criffin Designs from actual B-17 aircraft exterior skins. The skins are from EAA’s B-17 Aluminum Overcast, which continues to tour the U.S. each year to honor veterans and offer flight experience.

B17JewelryThe skins used for the jewelry were replaced after they were damaged in a 2012 hailstorm. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this jewelry will help maintain the B-17 in flying condition for years to come.

EAA’s new 52-page catalog also clothing, memorabilia, books and DVDs. More than 30 items have special EAA-member pricing and many are “Made in USA” items discovered by EAA especially for the catalog.
