New aviation law firm opens in Denver

By General Aviation News Staff · November 4, 2013 ·

DENVER — Sue Carriere and Ty Little have launched Carriere & Little LLP, an aviation law firm focused on the business and legal needs of aircraft owners, operators, and management companies.

The firm serves clients throughout the U.S. working directly with aircraft owners and operators as well as other general law practices to provide aviation specific legal advice and expertise.

Combined, Carriere and Little have more than 25 years of legal and aviation experience. The firm has offices at Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport in Broomfield, Colo. (KBJC) and has plans to open a second office at Centennial Airport in Englewood, Colo., (KAPA) by the end of the year.

Carriere specializes in transactional law and structuring aviation-related agreements, businesses, ownership, and operational entities to minimize taxes and liability.

Little, a Lieutenant Colonel in the Wyoming Air National Guard and licensed ATP pilot, says he focuses on ensuring his clients’ risks are kept to minimum, tax burden is as low as possible, and benefits are maximized.

The firm has other full-time and contract staff on hand to assist its clients consisting of individual owners, family offices, Part 135 air carriers, Part 91 flight departments and management companies, airport developers, and international aviation industry professionals.

“The IRS and FAA don’t always agree or align when it comes to general aviation, so there are a lot of pitfalls an owner and operator can fall into,” Carriere said. “It’s not if these regulatory agencies find an error in your operations, it’s when, so it really pays to have experts like us in your corner to keep you out of trouble. On the other hand, even if you are compliant already, often we can help you discover alternative ownership or business structures to improve your financial situation and achieve other goals.”
