Think Global Flight reveals winners of Jeppesen Give-Away

By General Aviation News Staff · June 4, 2014 ·

Pilots Chris Beger and Kevin Kochersberger have been named the recipients of the 2014 Jeppesen Give-Away through Think Global Flight.

The two are eligible to choose from one of two Jeppesen training packages valued at approximately $500-$900.

Jeppesen’s generous support helped fuel the excitement created as the Think Global Flight Crew travels the globe promoting education and inspiring students, according to Capt. Judy Rice.

The project has succeeded in generating more than $900,000 toward the $1 million needed to accomplish the mission, she added.

More than 20,000 students and teachers are participating across the globe, in 25 countries and 31 U.S. states.

Beger shared, “Science, Technology, Engineering, Math — the big four. The world is truly becoming a smaller place and to improve our lives and environment we must become more educated and embrace new ideas and technologies with the same fearless ambitions as our ancestors. It’s really simple. Education promotes openness and freedom. The world needs this.”

Kochersberger added, “Having been selected as the pilot for the Centennial of Flight celebration on Dec 17, 2003, and having logged time in Wright gliders and powered machines, I am aware of the impact that big aviation events like Think Global Flight can have on motivating youth to achieve high goals. Today, as a professor of mechanical engineering at Virginia Tech, I see the benefit of starting that spark of technical interest at a young age, and I applaud Think Global Flight and Jeppesen for reaching around the world to unleash that potential today.”
