Turbo the Flying Dog receives funding

By General Aviation News Staff · October 27, 2014 ·

A Kickstarter campaign to publish Turbo the Flying Dog that launched Sept. 3 became fully funded Oct. 22, surpassing 105% of its minimum goal and was ranked number two in the top 100 crowdfunding book projects.

The fully illustrated book, for children ages 4 to 8, follows the life of Turbo, who is excited to finally leave his life at the pound behind, only to find that he must get in an airplane to reach his new home.

Turbo’s story is based on a real-life rescue pup who flies around with his parents. The real Turbo has been from Canada to the Bahamas in small planes and has no problem going for a ride in the sky.

turboWith the success of the Kickstarter launch, Turbo the Flying Dog authors Kelly Kennedy (left) and Victoria Zajko have announced that they will use all additional funds to pay for illustrations for their second book in the Turbo series, Turbo Learns to Fly.

In Turbo Learns to Fly, Turbo meets his new friend and sidekick, Olive, who is having trouble making her impact in a male dominated industry. Illustrator Michelle Zajko will be on hand again for book two. Michelle was hired when she answered a post on the Turbo the Flying Dog Facebook page seeking bids for illustrators.

Backer rewards for the crowdfunding campaign include signed copies of the book and an opportunity to name Turbo’s flight school.
