Romantic getaways for pilots

By General Aviation News Staff · February 11, 2005 ·

Pilots are naturally romantic people and Biplane, Air Combat & Warbird Adventures based at California’s Palomar Airport can help you show it through several vacation packages designed for couples.

The Pampered Pilot Package provides a 30-minute flight for two in a restored open cockpit biplane, plus a massage, a Pacific Paradise or Citrus Margarita Scrub, a Kuikui and Coconut Scalp Escape, or an Aromatic Herbal Cocoon Wrap at a local spa. Price: $309 per couple.

For a quick pick-me-up, try the special Soar, Shore & Snore package. It includes one night for two at the Hilton Garden Inn, continental breakfast, and a 20-minute open cockpit biplane ride along Carlsbad’s unspoiled beaches. Package price is $310.

For the couple with a nostalgic yearning, there is the Grande Gatsby package, which includes four nights at the Grand Colonial Hotel in downtown La Jolla. The package includes breakfast for two, dinner and a 40-minute flight in a restored 1920s open-cockpit biplane. Price is $1,990 per couple.

The Romance is in the Air Package combines overnight accommodations at the Sea Lodge Hotel on La Jolla Shores with a 40-minute biplane flight for two. Prices start at $480.
