AOPA awards Twin Comanche

By General Aviation News Staff · February 25, 2005 ·

A South Carolina pilot is the proud owner of a newly restored 1965 Piper Twin Comanche. Roy Wilbanks of Greenwood, S.C., is the grand prize winner in the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association’s 2004 Win-A-Twin Sweepstakes. Wilbanks, who is co-owner of a Piper J-3 Cub, also won initial multi-engine training from American Flyers and type-specific training from the Comanche Flyers Foundation, the educational arm of the International Comanche Society. He’ll also get $5,000 in fuel from Carolina Air Center of Hilton Head, S.C., and MBNA America Bank.

Restoration work has already begun on next year’s sweepstakes prize, a 1974 Rockwell Commander 112A.
