Elliott Aviation receives STC approval for TAWS on Citation

By General Aviation News Staff · May 6, 2005 ·

Elliott Aviation has received STC approval from the FAA to install Universal Class A TAWS in all Citation 550/560 series aircraft to comply with the FAA Class A TAWS mandate.

The Universal TAWS System reduces the possibility of Controlled Flight Into Terrain (CFIT) accidents. It is able to take current and predicted aircraft positioning information and then provides well-in-advance alerts and warnings of potential hazards to flight crews aurally, as well as visually on a Universal MFD-640. Terrain is displayed in real-time and in several views including: Map (looking down from above), Profile (looking from the side) and 3-D Perspective.
