Thought provoking

By General Aviation News Staff · May 6, 2005 ·

William Helsell’s letter in the April 8 issue (Unabashed admiration needs to be tempered) in which he claims no rational person could believe the framers of the Constitution intended the right to bear arms to include weapons that had not yet been invented, was thought provoking.

Using that line of reasoning, we must conclude that the freedom of the press should not be extended to television or radio. Interesting idea!

Also,  he seems to suggest that the Second Amendment was in effect in 1776. The Constitution was signed in 1787 and the Bill of Rights became effective December 1791.
