The FAA has launched an online training program dedicated to the importance of human factors.
The course was developed for FAA employees, but is available to the general public. It consists of 10 self-guided lessons.
“Improvements to aviation safety and capacity are dependent on developing a national aviation system that is not only technically sophisticated, but also human performance-based and human-centered,” said Joan Bauerlein, FAA’s aviation research and development director.
The online course is part of the FAA’s continuing emphasis on human factors which, according to agency officials, is resulting in aircraft that are safer and easier to fly and air traffic control systems that are resistant to errors.
