Rod Machado Private Pilot handbook now on audio CD

By General Aviation News Staff · June 17, 2005 ·

Do you have a CD player in your car? If so, the next time you are stuck in traffic you can make use of that time to learn or refresh your pilot knowledge with Rod Machado’s Private Pilot Handbook on audio CD. There are 30 CDs in all.

Capt. Philip E. Hewitt, Ph.D., CFII and ATP, provides the narration on the discs in a voice that brings to mind the radio dramas of the 1940s. Comedian and CFII Alec Cody offers the occasional humorist impression to drive a point home. The CDs, like Machado’s popular private pilot handbook, contain the information necessary to pass the FAA private pilot exam as well as biennial flight reviews.

There is one caveat on the CDs: Some of the explanations require looking at a handbook containing graphics and pictures. Machado cautions against using the book if you are driving anything more complex than a treadmill at the gym.

The Private Pilot Handbook on CD is published by the Aviation Speakers Bureau. Price is $149.95, plus tax.
