Elliott Aviation has received an FAA STC to install Honeywell’s Runway Awareness and Advisory System (RAAS), along with windshear alerting, in Citation models 560 Ultra and 560XL Excel.
RAAS offers a significant safety enhancement to Honeywell’s Mark VII Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System (EGPWS) and can be added to existing or new installations. It provides improved situational awareness to help prevent runway incursions. The system utilizes GPS data, in addition to EGPWS runway database information, to monitor an aircraft’s position on the runway and taxiways. In the event of a deviation, the flight crew is alerted through an aural advisory warning.
Windshear detection and alerting provides aural and visual warnings of a windshear condition by sensing rapid changes in the aircraft’s operating performance.
Meanwhile, the company has applied for an STC on a major flat panel cockpit upgrade for the Falcon 10/100.
This upgrade will modernize the flight deck by replacing aging electromechanical flight instruments with a Universal 890R large-format instrument suite. The 890R upgrade will incorporate a large array of advanced capabilities that will accommodate current and emerging technologies. In addition to the 890R displays, the certification aircraft will include the full integration of additional equipment consisting of: RVSM airdata computers, Universal UNS-1F FMS, Universal Class A TAWS, Universal Vision-1 Synthetic Vision, Universal Cockpit Display (UCD) with electronic charts, checklist and WSI Nexrad weather, TCAS II/ACAS traffic and RA commands, weather radar and Stormscope sensor data.
