Virtual flight instructor teaches instrument procedures

By General Aviation News Staff · September 23, 2005 ·

ELITE Simulation Solutions introduces its Virtual Flight Instructor – Instrument (VFII) software package.

The VFII is a stand-alone, scenario-based IFR instruction and evaluation program that uses a virtual CFII to guide pilots through a progression of flight lessons centered on the requirements found in the FAA’s Instrument Rating Practical Test Standards guide. Each lesson is evaluated and logged for future reference so pilots can track their progress and refine those skill areas in need of additional attention.

“The VFII program is a sophisticated training and evaluation tool that will greatly enhance a pilot’s understanding and ability to properly execute instrument procedures,” says Fred Zanegood, ELITE Director of Marketing. “VFII has been designed from the ground up to utilize scenario-based training for maximum training transfer. The benefits of scenario- based training have been given specific focus as outlined in the FAA/Industry Training Standards (FITS). Congruent with this philosophy, the VFII was specifically structured to take advantage of these methods. The scenario-based approach allows pilots to learn procedures in the context they will eventually be performed. Pilots are immersed in an environment that closely emulates what they will experience in their day-to-day flying and thus come away with practical operational knowledge.”
