New quick-build kit for Zodiac XL

By General Aviation News Staff · November 18, 2005 ·

Zenith Aircraft Co. introduces a new Quick-Build Kit for its Sport Pilot-ready two-seat Zodiac XL.

The new kit promises to reduce construction time for Zodiac XL builders by 50%.

The standard kit for the Zodiac XL has long been recognized for its quick assembly time.

In past years, company officials have assembled and flown one of its standard airframe kits in just seven days during an annual EAA Oshkosh or Sun ‘n Fun fly-in convention.

The company quotes an average airframe assembly time of 250 hours with the new Quick-Build Kit for its popular Zodiac XL. This is achieved by having the entire airframe factory-jigged before delivery.

Nearly all major components have been pre-aligned with rivet holes pre-drilled. Most sections are then taken apart for easy shipping and final reassembly by the builder.

The new Quick-Build Kit will meet the 51% rule for the amateur-built experimental aircraft category.

Complete kits are available for pick up or delivery from three independent regional distributors: Flight Crafters, Zephyr Hills, Fla. (813-779-1156), Quality Sport Planes, Sonoma, Calif. (707-546-6272) and Can-Zac Aviation, Ontario, Canada (519-590-7601). Each distributor also plans to offer tech support and a range of onsite builder assistance programs.

The new Quick-Build Kits are available at an introductory price of $23,975, which includes custom leather upholstery for the cabin. The kit is crated in one large box for easy transportation.
