Florida’s Arthur Dunn Airpark and Meritt Island Airport receive new AWOS

By General Aviation News Staff · December 16, 2005 ·

With the recent addition of new Automated Weather Observing Systems (AWOS) at both Arthur Dunn Airpark and Merritt Island Airport, pilots, meteorologists, flight dispatchers and the community can now receive up-to-date, accurate local weather information from the Titusville-Cocoa Airport Authority (TCAA).

Each AWOS system will measure and report a wide variety of weather data including: wind speed, direction and gusts; temperature; visibility; cloud coverage; precipitation and accumulation; thunderstorms and lightning; and altimeter readings. The AWOS units then broadcast the information to pilots via VHF radio, providing up-to-the-minute, accurate weather reporting.

The information is available for pilots at 119.725 at Arthur Dunn Airpark and 119.025 at the Merritt Island Airport. Also, pilots and the community can receive the latest updates via telephone at 321-385-0383 for Arthur Dunn Airpark and 321-986-8864 at the Merritt Island Airport.
