Signature Plating and Aircraft Belts achieve industry first

By General Aviation News Staff · December 16, 2005 ·

Signature Plating, a full-service plating facility in Houston, and Aircraft Belts, Inc. (ABI), a leader in developing and manufacturing aircraft safety restraints, have achieved a record turnaround time for producing and shipping a complete set of new seat belts plated in 24K gold in the same day.

Signature Plating and ABI offer this type of turnaround as a means to better facilitate the needs of customers, company officials said. Increased use of VIP aircraft and minimum down-times creates a demand for specialty plated belts. This specialized program is designed for those customers who need the product in a short amount of time. “It’s really unfortunate that customers have had to settle for basic seat belts on the hardware side when they desire a more beautiful look, such as 24K polished gold, because of the time issue of dealing with both a restraint and plating vendor,” said Frank McKnight, president of Aircraft Belts and CFO of Signature Plating. “Our companies realize this and, at the direction of our customers, have chosen to do something about it with same day turnaround.”

The companies also provide speedy rewebbing services. All of their rewebbed restraints come with a new permanent tag and a statement of conformance to FAA requirements. Standard turn time for rewebbing is three days and expedient turn time is available the same day.
