Yingling Aviation revives aircraft sales business

By General Aviation News Staff · March 10, 2006 ·

Yingling Aviation, a Cessna Customer Care Center that is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year, is again selling airplanes after a 15-year hiatus.

Jerry Pickett, director of sales and marketing, has revived the sales department, which closed in 1991 during a lean period for the industry when no new single and multi-piston/turbine engine aircraft were being produced by Cessna prior to the passage of the General Aviation Revitalization Act of 1994.

“The market for legacy Cessna aircraft — both piston and jet — is extremely active and Yingling has both the expertise and support services to provide customers and prospective buyers with excellent products. We are able to acquire, refurbish, if necessary, and modify aircraft to fit the needs of our customers,” said Lynn Nichols, president of Yingling.

As Cessna’s first aircraft dealer, Yingling had been an authorized sales location for the company’s new light and high performance single engine and Cessna piston twin engine aircraft, selling literally hundreds of airplanes from its inception in 1946 until the mid 1980s, when product liability concerns virtually ended the production of new piston engine aircraft.

Yingling also is a full-service FBO providing 24 hour line services at Mid-Continent Airport (ICT) in Wichita, as well as a Cessna Pilot Center with a full fleet of aircraft for primary, instrument and advance ratings.
