Elite Simulation Solutions has released its new Interconnectivity Protocol Module (IPM), which allows Elite software to “talk” with handheld GPS units and EFBs (Electronic Flight Bags).
While handheld GPS units and EFBs have become popular, there has not been a good way to practice flying with these devices before climbing in the cockpit.
“The IPM will open up an entirely new way for owners to become proficient in the use of their handheld GPS and/or EFB devices before heading out to the aircraft,” says Elite’s Fred Zanegood. “Pilots will be able to plan a trip then fly it on Elite utilizing all the same tools they will use on the actual flight. Flying a dry run on the sim will give pilots a chance to tweak any aspect of their planning/programming as necessary to obtain maximum safety and utility from their aircraft.Price: $89.
