Mooney Airplane Co. recently delivered its 11,000th production aircraft, an Ovation2 GX. The milestone airplane, handed over to Dennis Strigl at the company’s Kerrville, Texas, delivery center, is equipped with the Garmin G1000.
Mooney delivered its first airplane in 1948, from its initial location in Wichita, Kansas. A total of 66 were delivered during the first full year of production. The firm moved to Kerrville in 1951. After delivering 34 planes in 2003 and 36 in 2004, the company more than doubled its output in 2005 with 85 new airplanes entering service.
