LoPresti debuts Knot Wax

By General Aviation News Staff · May 19, 2006 ·

LoPresti SpeedMerchants has introduced a new polymer formulated for aircraft surfaces.

Knot Wax, a two-part catalyzed polymer, is applied much like an epoxy coating. The aircraft is cleaned and the polymer base is applied with a soft applicator. The hardener is sprayed on and the material catalyzes immediately. After a light buffing, Knot Wax begins a hardening process that continues for up to seven days.

Knot Wax does not wash off or thin out over time. It provides complete surface protection against corrosion, salt, mold, mildew and UV damage. It is completely silicon free, can be applied to rubber as well as cloth and needs no reapplication for up to a year.

“Oh, and by the way,” said Jim LoPresti, drag reduction specialist, “the additional reduction in laminar separation is giving us 3 or more knots at cruise in most applications.”
