ABS Aerolight debuts small model for aerial photography and more

By General Aviation News Staff · June 23, 2006 ·

Developed by ABS Aérolight, the Pixy is a compact, radio-controlled motorized paraglider that can carry up to 10 lb. of photography equipment without any risk, making it ideal for aerial shots, and also for infrared and multispectral sensors.

The Pixy needs only a few feet of runway to take to the sky. Throttling back keeps the aircraft from climbing too high in altitude, while a proportional left/right control handles steering. Its maximum flight duration is 1.5 hours. Descent is controlled by throttling back, and pre-programming will bring the glider to land in automatic pilot.

ABS Aérolight offers a variety of options, including radio-controlled lens turrets, a GPS system for geo-referencing data, long-range video feedback, cameras, and tailored sensor mounts.
