San Juan College in Farmington, N.M., presents a financial aid seminar for individuals who want to begin flight training but don’t understand the ins and outs of financing the costs. The seminar, available at PilotJourney.com, is free.
“Flight training is expensive, but like any investment in a potential career, there are ways to finance training,” said Lori Boognl, financial aid advisor at San Juan College. “Most students are uninformed when it comes to what they can do to secure the necessary financing. We hope to address some of the myths and realities of financial aid.”
San Juan College and Mesa Pilot Development, a subsidiary of Mesa Airlines, have operated the Primary Pilot Training Program since 1989. They launched the Professional Airline Career Enhancement (PACE) program in 1999. Students who successfully complete training are guaranteed an interview with Mesa for a first officer position.
