Zenith Aircraft Co.’s 15th annual Open Hangar Day is slated for Saturday, Aug. 19, at Mexico Memorial Airport in central Missouri. All aviation enthusiasts are invited to drive or fly in.
Zenith produces two and four seat kit aircraft, including the low-wing, all-metal Zodiac XL cruiser and the short takeoff and landing STOL CH 701 utility plane. Both can be operated under the new Light Sport Aircraft rules. Zenith’s kit production facilities will be open to the public during the Open Hangar Day and the company’s factory-demonstrator kit aircraft will be on display from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
On the same day, the Mexico Memorial Airport will be hosting its first-ever airshow, sponsored by the Mexico Elks Club and featuring airshow performers from Dave Dacy Airshows. Food, refreshments and children’s activities will be available. There is a $3 per person admission fee for the airshow.
