Highlights from AirVenture 2006

By Meg Godlewski · August 18, 2006 ·

From Light Sport Aircraft to Very Light Jets and all that lies between could be found at this year’s AirVenture.

On the LSA end of the spectrum more than 30 manufacturers and importers displayed their models on the LSA Mall near AeroShell Square, while the VLJs dominated the exhibit areas surrounding AeroShell Square.

For warbird buffs there was an impressive display of big iron from days gone by, including a visit from a rare Avro Lancaster. For those who favor more modern military hardware, a C-17 on static display and an aerial performance of an F-22 combined with a never been done before fly over by the Blue Angels made the show.

Attendance was estimated at 625,000 people, which was slightly down from 2005.

AirVenture 2007 is slated for July 23-30.
