Lincoln Electric publishes MIG Welding Guide

By General Aviation News Staff · September 8, 2006 ·

Lincoln Electric has published a 96-page GMAW Welding Guide, which focuses on today’s dominant welding process, gas metal arc welding (GMAW) or, as it is often referred to, MIG welding.

The guide kicks off with a definition and history of the MIG process, along with its advantages, benefits and limitations. It continues with detail on: Modes of metal transfer; components of the welding arc; list of appropriate shielding gases; and advanced welding processes for MIG; an overview of equipment, guns and accessories; procedure guidelines for general welding practices, as well as STT II welding and rapid-arc welding; and proper arc welding safety precautions.
