Sennheiser’s newest headset, the HMEC 460, offers enhanced convenience and audio. Its state-of-the-art NoiseGuard active noise reduction system can be powered by either the aircraft’s electrical system or a pair of AA batteries. Should the pilot choose, the active noise cancellation can be switched off.
Audio response has been extended upwards to 20 kHz for greater comprehension of speech. The headset includes inputs for both cell phones and MP3 players.
Versatility is extended by individual earpiece volume controls and by the wearer’s option of positioning the noise-compensating electret condenser mic on either the left or right side, company officials note.
The 13.05 oz headset comes in a specially-designed transport bag that has enough room for a logbook or POH, plus a pair of sunglasses.
Price: $869.
