Unison Industries has completed bench environmental and software certification of its Digital Generator Control Unit (DGCU) for the Citation Mustang. The DGCU is used to control the starter generator, which starts the engine and provides in-flight power for a variety of aircraft functions. Traditionally, GCUs have used analog technology and provided only basic control and protection functions. Unison’s DGCU incorporates modern electronic technology that provides significantly increased functionality over analog models, Unison officials said. This represents the first time the Unison technical team has certified an electronic product for turbine engine applications that incorporates embedded software.
