A dragon you don’t want to slay: Indianapolis man’s RV takes flight with the wings of a dragon

By Meg Godlewski · October 6, 2006 ·

Larry Boggs from Indianapolis is used to having a crowd of people standing around his RV Super 8 at air shows.

He’s also used to comments like “I think it bit me.”

That’s because his RV sports a design of a dragon hatching out of an eggshell — a design so realistic that Harry Potter fans take one look at the airplane and hurry to tell Hagrid that Norbert escaped again.

“My son, Aaron, drew the dragon,” Bogg said during this year’s AirVenture in Oshkosh. “The painter came up with the idea of the dragon busting out of the airplane because there is not enough room on the side to get the full image of the dragon.”

Boggs has been flying the dragon RV since 2003, but this may have been its last visit to AirVenture.

“We’re selling it, so we can build another RV,” Boggs explained.
