FAA has granted APIS approval to Sino Swearingen Aircraft Corp

By General Aviation News Staff · January 19, 2007 ·

The FAA has granted APIS approval to Sino Swearingen Aircraft Corp. for its SJ30 production line. APIS, which stands for Approved Production Inspection System, allows Sino Swearingen to inspect its own products under a system approved by the FAA.

“We have been working towards APIS approval since receiving our type certificate with both of our plants in Martinsburg, W.V., and San Antonio,” said Bob Homan, vice-president of quality assurance.

Next step for the company is a Production Certificate.

The latest approval enhances the company’s ability to mass produce the jets, according to company officials. There are orders for more than 300 aircraft on the books.

The SJ30 is a high performance twin jet aircraft with a range of more than 2,500 nm and a cruise speed of Mach .83 (560 mph). This single pilot certified jet operates at altitudes to 49,000 feet and maintains a sea level cabin of 12 psi through 41,000 ft.
