Direct-To Avionics closes

By Meg Godlewski · February 16, 2007 ·

Chelton Flight Systems of Boise, Idaho, has come to the rescue of customers who were left in a lurch by the sudden closure of Direct-To Avionics. The Bend, Ore.-based company abruptly closed its doors in December.

Direct-To Avionics was a distributor of systems for kit-built aircraft. Among the components supplied were those for Chelton Flight Systems, Crossbow Technologies, Pinpoint Inertial, TruTrack Flight Systems, and FreeFlight Systems.

According to a message on the defunct company’s website, Chelton Flight Systems will handle future sales and support of its products.

“We have a recovery program we have offered for people who are disadvantaged by this,” said Greg Schmidt, Chelton’s sales manager for experimental sales. “We are selling them an entire system at our cost.”

Clients who are missing a component, such as a single Pinpoint Inertial ADAHRS/GADHRS system, also can get those at cost.
