Young Eagles not affected by new tour rules

By General Aviation News Staff · March 9, 2007 ·

A new air tour rule released by the FAA will not apply to Young Eagles flights, according to officials with the Experimental Aircraft Association.

Lobbying by EAA’s top officials led the FAA to “move towards a positive solution,” according to EAA President Tom Poberezny.

“Everyone we met with at FAA assured us that there was no intent to harm the Young Eagles program in any manner through the air tour rule.”

As written, the rule’s preamble could place restrictions on pilot qualifications and frequency of Young Eagles flights.

Technical corrections will be made to the final rule before it goes into effect March 15 to ensure Young Eagles flight will continue, FAA officials said.
