Manufacturers post strong numbers

GA airplane shipments and billings for the first half of 2007 totaled 1,883, a 1.7% increase over the same period last year, with billings rising 11.7% to $9.8 billion, according to the General Aviation Manufacturers Association.

Shipments of piston planes were down slightly from the same period last year to 1,226, a 4.2% decrease. Turboprop shipments rose 15.2% from 158 in 2006 to 182 in 2007. The bizjet market grew by 14.7% with an increase in shipments from 414 in the first half of 2006 to 475 in the first half of 2007.
